Tunnels 43:17

about

During the 2014 Israel-Gaza conflict, 32 Palestinian tunnels, 14 of which went into Israel, were found. I was struck by the subterranean horror of these tunnels, along with the desperation their creation represented. I also was unnerved by the military tactic of random surprise kidnappings. It all seemed something out of a nightmare. My piece “Tunnels” is an offering, a mantra of peace, and a quest for light in the darkness of this political landscape. My intention was to create a calmative and ruminative strumming that would help give faith in the process of life.–ERNESTO DIAZ-INFANTE (April 2016)
